Description
The dormakaba Simplex 7104-26D-41 is a fully mechanical pushbutton lock for doors that need controlled exterior entry without keys, cards, batteries, wiring, or software. An authorized user enters the single combination and turns the exterior control to retract the latch. After the door closes, the deadlocking latch automatically returns the opening to its secured condition. The interior thumbturn remains available for free egress at all times.
Why Choose the Simplex 7104
- No batteries, electrical power, programming software, or network connection to maintain.
- Single access code can be changed directly at the keypad without removing the lock from the door.
- Automatic relocking helps prevent the door from being unintentionally left unlocked after use.
- Deadlocking latch improves resistance to latch manipulation when the door is properly closed and aligned.
- Field-reversible handing supports left- and right-hand door applications.
- Weather-resistant construction supports suitable exterior and interior installations.
7104-26D-41 Configuration
- 7104: Simplex 7100 Series model with a 1/2-inch deadlocking tubular latch and automatic relocking.
- 26D: satin chrome finish, equivalent to ANSI/BHMA 626.
- 41: dormakaba packaging code.
Construction and Operation
The lock uses an all-metal cast front housing, solid-metal vandal-resistant pushbuttons, and a force-resistant exterior thumbturn protected by a clutch mechanism. It provides one shared mechanical access code rather than individual user credentials. This makes it well suited to openings where dependable code control is more important than audit trails, schedules, remote management, or separate credentials for each user.
Door and Frame Requirements
- Door material: wood or metal.
- Door thickness: 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches.
- Minimum stile: 4 inches.
- Backset: 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches; confirm the required latch before ordering.
- Strike: curved-lip strike plate for the 7104 model.
- Door preparation: requires the manufacturer-specified through bores and cross bore shown on the current installation template.
Recommended Applications
The Simplex 7104 is a practical choice for stockrooms, staff-only rooms, utility areas, service doors, storage rooms, and other moderate-traffic openings that need keyless mechanical access. Because it uses one shared code and does not record activity, it is not a substitute for an electronic access-control system where individual accountability, time schedules, remote changes, or audit history are required.
Installation Considerations
Confirm door thickness, stile width, backset, handing, frame condition, and strike location before drilling. Reliable automatic relocking depends on the door closing completely and the latch entering the strike without binding. Correct door-closer adjustment and proper door alignment should be addressed before installation.
